How’s It Hangin’?

Once upon a time, it dawned on me that it was silly to have several wreaths in the storage room, but not one on my front door. The only thing between me and a pop of pretty to welcome my guests? A significant lack of any way to hang it up. There are several decorative wreath hangers out there, but I wanted something I could whip up quickly without having to drive to a craft store. I was, however, willing to make a Walmart run. After scrounging around in my craft supplies, I came out with burlap ribbon. A quick trip to Walmart supplied magnetic tape and velcro. This will all make sense eventually, I promise.

I figured out how long I needed my hanger to be and cut a length of ribbon that was twice that long. Then I sewed the velcro to each end so that they could be joined.

I had used that same ribbon to hang a wreath at out first house, but at the time, I just looped it through the wreath and stapled the ends to the top of the door frame. That was functional for one wreath, but I would have to unstaple it and restaple it every time I wanted to switch out the wreath. Kind of annoying. Attaching velcro to each end allows me to switch out the wreath simply by undoing the velcro. I originally planned to use some of the magnetic tape to secure the hanger to the top of the door frame; unfortunately, the magnet wasn’t strong enough so I had to come up with a quick substitution. At first I tried stapling it, but this door is apparently sturdier than the door at our old house; it rebuffed my multiple attempts to attach the hanger with my staple gun. Then I found command strips and super glue. Jackpot! I super glued the command strips to the ribbon, then stuck the command strips to the top of the door.

And just like that, Spring arrived on my front porch.

I picked a wreath with a substantial amount of yellow so it would pop against the teal door.

The only down side to this door is that I have no idea how to take a picture of it from a direct angle without my reflection showing up. Maybe I’ll figure it out one of these days.

P.S. This wreath in this image has been sold, but all the pieces I currently have available can be found at https://www.serenitymaker.com/shop/wreaths
